As a UX Designer and Illustrator at Firstrade Securities, I integrate my healthcare background into product design, prioritizing accessibility and education. During my time at Firstrade, I established a cohesive brand image across mobile and web designs and social media platforms. My expertise extends to comprehensive market research, allowing me to tailor designs that align with brand values and consumer preferences.
FirstradeGPT
For FirstradeGPT, our team focused on designing an intuitive AI-driven stock-trading assistant that simplified complex financial decisions. The challenge was balancing accessibility for novice investors with advanced features for seasoned traders. We created modular flows, adjusting to users' expertise levels, and focused on clean, minimalist design to prevent information overload.
Iterating on prototypes, we refined the conversational UI and data visualizations to enhance clarity and usability. The result was a seamless, personalized experience that boosted user confidence and engagement.
Social Media Graphics
The social media graphics I designed were created to strengthen brand presence and engage diverse audiences. Each post was tailored to reflect the brand’s core values while keeping inclusivity and accessibility at the forefront. Users could interact with the content through eye-catching visuals and clear messaging, making the posts not only engaging but also memorable.
Fractional Share Trading
Goal: Make stock/ETF trading more financially accessible. Our team proposed integrating fractional share trading to the Firstrade platform, which allows traders to own pieces of a stock with as little as $5.
Mobile App Intro Screens
Fractional Share Trading is a feature designed to make stock and ETF trading more financially accessible, enabling users to invest as little as $5 to own portions of a stock. The challenge was to present the concept of fractional shares to a diverse user base in a way that simplified complex financial concepts without overwhelming or confusing users. Many of Firstrade’s users were new to investing so approachable design was critical to reducing barriers to entry. As the UX designer, I conducted research to understand users' pain points, such as confusion about fractional ownership and concerns about transparency in pricing. Using these insights, I created wireframes and prototypes that prioritized simplicity and clear communication.
I collaborated closely with product managers and developers to refine the user interface, focusing on elements like onboarding flows and instructional modals to educate users about fractional shares. By breaking down complex concepts into intuitive visual elements and step-by-step guidance, I ensured the feature was easy to understand and actionable. This design approach empowered users to confidently invest, broadening access to wealth-building opportunities while aligning with Firstrade’s mission of financial empowerment.
